Since time began (or since Agent Academy opened its doors 8 years ago, at least!), we have ensured that all of our learners leave Rise with greater employment opportunities in the creative, digital and tech industries. Our success rate speaks for itself, having placed over 300 young people into roles after their time with us! But often when we talk about jobs in these industries, there are some misconceptions about the types of roles that are available. There are so many jobs that you may not even know existed! Here’s 5:
Ethical hacker
According to Tech Target, an ethical hacker (or sometimes known as a ‘white hat’ hacker) can be defined as, “An information security (infosec) expert who penetrates a computer system, network, application or other computing resource on behalf of its owners — and with their authorisation.” Basically, they’re the good cops of hacking! They act as a safeguarding mechanism to protect you or a business from hackers who offer a threat to your online security, which really means that in becoming an ethical hacker, you can live out your evil villain dreams in a heroic way!
Video game tester
It’s hard to believe that this is an actual career, right? But it’s true, you can really make a living from testing out video games before they reach the 2.34 billion gamers of the world to make sure their experience is first class. You’ll be identifying bugs and glitches to improve the quality of games, and of course, getting to play yourself. Cool doesn’t come close!
Drone operator
There’s no doubt that drones are the next cool thing in tech. Being able to capture video and photo content from unreachable heights and angles has transformed the way we view content and enhanced film and TV to new heights (no pun intended!). The rate at which we can see this growing means that opportunities to work with and operate drones are on the up, and it’s not just film and TV they’re used in. Drones can be used to market buildings and event spaces, or in agriculture for crops, to show off all they have to offer! It’s a cross-sector role that can suit numerous career paths.
Meme creator
Meme’s are the 21st centuries answer to pointing to a funny picture in your school textbook and telling your friend, “that’s you!”. They’re the things you share, receive and relate to as you scroll through social media and now, you can make a living off them! As a meme creator, it’s your responsibility to entertain the masses with quick wit, and simultaneously boost your businesses reach across social media. You’ll be jumping on current trending topics and relating funny content to your brand that will prove you know how to work the social media bubble! Talk about a dream Gen Z job?!
Self-driving car tester
Although this one requires some trust in technology, in taking up the role of a self-driving car tester, you’ll be paving the way for advancements that will be ground-breaking in the tech world! This new way of driving is undoubtedly going to make transport a lot easier and even help fight climate change. But before the rest of the world get their hands on this, it’s up to you to give it the go ahead and lead the world into safer, cleaner driving. Pretty fun if you ask us!
