Labour peer praises Agent Academy as ‘inspirational’ after visiting Liverpool session

Future -

Labour Peer Baroness Jones, Minister for the Future Digital Economy, visited our latest Agent Academy cohort in Liverpool

Baroness Jones, Labour Minister for the Future Digital Economy, praised Agent Academy as ‘inspirational’ after joining our latest cohort for an interactive session on Wednesday (25th September).

A Community Interest Company (CIC), our award-winning Academy has trained hundreds of North West talent over the last decade, with over 95% finding full-time permanent positions within the relevant sectors.

Agent Academy recruits multiple times a year for our 12-week course, with successful applicants working alongside real-world clients on high-profile campaigns across the North West.

Completely free, the Academy offers one-to-one coaching sessions for job applications and interviews, balancing practical sessions and client briefs alongside expert masterclasses to allow each individual to reach their career goals.

Baroness Jones visited Agent Academy at our Baltic Triangle base in Liverpool, watching as the latest talents took part in a creative session. Jones then met with successful Academy alumni who went into detail about their experiences and the successful careers they transitioned into afterwards, including organisations such as Co-Op, Very, Open Media and CGI.

Baroness Jones was named House of Lords spokeswoman on Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport in 2010 before becoming Shadow Education Minister. She was Shadow Environment Minister from 2015 until her appointment in July 2024 as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Future Digital Economy and Online Safety.

Baroness Jones, Minister for the Future Digital Economy, said:

“This government is on a mission to create sustained economic growth. This means expanding the unique digital skills we have in Britain to train new talent, generate job opportunities, and ensure the social and economic benefits of the digital economy are widely shared.

“Agent Academy is an inspirational initiative that will equip young people with the digital skills they need to make a difference in our thriving tech sector.”

Teza Simukulwa, Agent Academy graduate and User Experience Designer (UX) at sister company Agent, said:

“I joined Agent Academy in 2021 while working in the hospitality sector. I graduated in graphic design several years earlier but found myself struggling to find an opportunity.

“Agent Academy was the catalyst that helped me develop and hone my craft into becoming a User Experience Designer, allowing me to work with real-world clients.”

”Agent Academy is the perfect initiative for those passionate about a career in the digital and creative sectors. It is a welcoming and nurturing environment for learners of all experiences and backgrounds.”

Agent Academy was created in 2014 by Paul Corcoran, founder of our sister company Agent, the full-service marketing agency.
